As will be seen the words ambience, atmosphere and milieu all have more or less the same meaning but I have chosen to draw an artificial and non-dictionary distinction simply for the sake of both clarity and consistency in communication. Vis.:
I guess that word appeals to me because of my artistic back-ground as the (French) word ambiance – spelt with an ‘a’ – has particular associations for me. For instance:
